Recently, I was assigned the music marketing project, along with a group. After working on it for about three weeks, we were able to get a lot done. For instance, my group and I started off with choosing one of the four songs we were provided with within a genre. The song we chose was Mountain at My Gates by Foals, which allowed us to move onto creating our music research chart. After working together on the charts for two days, we finished within the due date and were now able to continue on with the project. Before beginning our presentation and planning for the music video, we did a short assignment in which my group and I read an article and presented the important information in two slides, in preparation for what we will do in our own presentation.
On the same document we created the music research chart, we would jot down ideas for the music video itself (see the image below). While two people in the group began the presentation on Canva, another person in my group and I did the storyboard. During which, we would ask one another if our ideas worked well or not. We were honest with each other, while maintaining a good attitude throughout the whole process and making decisions that would work best as a group. After planning out the music video on the storyboard, the entire group began working on the presentation. Using Canva, we were able to make our presentation look professional while keeping it fun with designs and fonts and taking into consideration, of course, making the font big enough and easy to read for when we present it to the class. Currently, we have finished all of the assignments we had to complete, including the research charts, storyboard, and presentation.
This weekend my group and I will be meeting to record our music video, and later editing it to sync with the song and flow well as a story. Along with this, we will divide the presentation up evenly and practice for the next few days until we present. Overall, the project was extremely interesting and fun with all the creativity and freedom we had. However, I believe that the filming and editing will be the most challenging portion of the project. This is due to the fact that a few things could go wrong, like not having enough footage, difficulty syncing the song to the clips, etc. Once we have our finished product though, the next steps would be to present our information, research, and band to the class and teacher.
