We have decided on the genre being a tragedy/crime drama!
We met privately with Mrs. Stoklosa in class today to discuss our plans and receive feedback on it. Originally, we were going to have a male as our subject, but after discussing potential casting issues, we decided to switch to a female subject. This would also help us achieve representation, since most film subjects are males. For the younger girl, Nati’s cousin will take the role. As for older versions of the subject, we are still planning the cast.
The plot will remain the same for the most part, but we made some changes to the ending. After the girl reaches the age of 18, she will leave her home and never return, which will be shown when she leaves with a few rebellious friends who act like her. We are aware of the difficulty of filming and showing these ideas we have with little time, but with more and more planning, we are figuring out alternatives and solutions to possible issues.
After doing some research, we noted that dramas consist of conflicts, which in our film opening would be character vs self. Dramas also have real-life scenarios with emotionally-driven characters. These real-life scenarios would be toxic households, substance abuse, and rebelling actions. The emotionally-driven character would be our female subject who will act off of built up emotions from the toxic household.
