Second part of editing is done!
This is when Claire was a few years older than the beginning scene. Claire is in a state of sadness, and expresses this through music. As mentioned in a previous blog post, Nati and I applied for a SESAC license for Sam Smith’s song, Stay With Me, but did not receive a response. As a backup, we decided to go for sad royalty free songs on websites. After looking through multiple songs, we found one we thought fit our scene best. It is Ballero by Ardie Son.
The editing for this part of the film opening went well, as our clips were shot accordingly with no issues. The clips were also placed into DaVinci Resolve once they were filmed, so we just had to crop some of the beginning or ending parts of the clips, or cut entire clips out. There were also times in which we would have filmed the same clip twice but with a minor difference to see which looked best. For example, when Claire looked up how old she had to be to leave her home and had an album of sad music open, we did not know whether to include her grades or not. After editing, we decided to not keep the grades in because it would be too much on the computer.
Overall, all editing is going really well! I’m excited to start editing the final part and see how everything looks put together.
